The White House at Harrow on the Hill, Harrow College - Grade II listed building. It has 4 chimneys and there is bright blue sky above the white house.

Local MP Gareth Thomas recently had the chance to see first-hand the work being done to transform a Harrow College building into a new health and wellbeing hub.

As part of an exciting partnership between Harrow College, the NHS and voluntary groups, Headstone Road Surgery will relocate to the White House, a Grade II listed building on the College’s campus in Harrow-on-the-Hill.

White House transformation

On Thursday 15 October, the MP for Harrow West first visited Headstone Road Surgery before heading to the College to visit the White House.

Also in attendance was Simon Mills, Director of Strategic Estates at West and North London Integrated Care Board, and colleagues from the NHS and Headstone Road Surgery.

Together with Harrow College staff, they enjoyed a tour of the historic building and had the chance to ask questions about its ongoing redevelopment.

Care closer to home

The new neighbourhood hub at the White House will bring together:

  • Primary care
  • Mental health
  • Social care
  • Voluntary sector organisations
  • Education partners.

As well as ensuring patients can access care closer to home, the hub will also allow Harrow College healthcare students to experience real-world integrated care.

Innovative partnership

Jo Swindells, Principal of Harrow College, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Gareth Thomas MP and NHS colleagues to Harrow College and show them the work being done to transform the White House into a neighbourhood health hub. This innovative partnership between the College and our partners shows our commitment to the community and to increasing learning opportunities for our students.”

Community asset

Kelly Ocloo, Assistant Principal at Harrow College, said:

“With the support of Mr Thomas MP and our health and care partners from the NHS, Harrow Council, and the voluntary and community sector, this project offers the opportunity to create a valuable community asset that will benefit local people for generations to come.”
