This festive season, HRUC (Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges) is celebrating the spirit of giving by supporting our local communities. Through the incredible support of our staff, we’ve been able to make a real difference for families in need.

We’re proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our staff, we’re delivering urgently needed items and an extended Executive Management Team contribution to three local food banks:

  • Harrow Foodbank
  • Richmond Foodbank
  • Yiewsley & West Drayton Foodbank.

While our original pledge was to match donations up to a certain limit, we chose to go even further, donating the full capped amount of £500 per site to maximise our support, in partnership with the Trussell Trust.

Collective kindness

From hygiene essentials to non-perishables, our campuses came together in a powerful act of collective kindness.

On Wednesday 26 November Yashvi Prajapati (Employee Experience Administrator) and Natasha Coutinho (Graphic Designer) visited the Harrow Foodbank Centre on behalf of Harrow College. As well as making food and monetary donations they presented a ceremonial cheque signed by HRUC CEO, Keith Smith, to Chonde Nkowani, Manager at Harrow Food Bank.

Harrow Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. The Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.

Additionally, they support charities and organisations locally and in the surrounding areas by providing them with surplus stock.

HRUC representatives will be visiting Yiewsley & West Drayton Foodbank on Tuesday 2 December and Richmond Foodbank on Wednesday 10 December to make similar donations and present ceremonial cheques.
