Computing & Information Technology

If you like working with computers, enjoy solving problems using logical, analytical thinking and enjoy hands-on practical work then this course is for you. You will learn how to create websites, coding, animations, games, spreadsheets and databases. You will also develop practical skills in computer hardware and networking.

Course content includes:

  • Information Technology Systems
  • Creating Systems to Manage Information
  • Using Social Media in Business
  • Data Modelling (all subject to review at any time).
  • Entry requirements

    4 x GCSEs grade 9-4 (grade C and above) including English or Maths, or a Level 2 diploma qualification at Merit grade.

    We will need to see a progress report which states 90% and above attendance and a recommendation from your tutor, school or college.

    Students with a Level 2 diploma with Pass grade along with GCSE or Level 2 Functional skills Maths or English should apply and will be interviewed.

  • Who is the course for?

    This course is designed for ICT students who are serious about a future within the Computing and IT industry and who want to acquire the professional skills needed to succeed in the world of Technology.

  • Study methods

    In person. Students will be taught through a variety of software practical sessions, exam preparations and workshops.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Externally assessed examinations and internally assessed coursework.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    After two years of study our students can move on to study further at their chosen university to further their career.

      Some stay on at College to study HNC and HND Computer Science.
