Our Level 1 course introduces and inspires our students into three key industries, Information Creative Technology (ICT), Media / Filmmaking & Business Studies. The course is perfect for those who have an interest in these three subject areas and learn foundation skills to support their future endeavours in these industries.
ICT Units:
This is an introductory programme in computing and aims to provide you with the opportunity to develop a range of skills within the IT sector. The units cover activities such as creating a website, developing and using digital information with IT.
Learners will develop a range of skills in the IT sector in areas such as problem-solving, working with others, communication and research and supporting progression on to further study.
Media Units:
Learners will be introduced to the production process of making a short video (film). They will engage with planning for a video project by producing an effective storyboard, recording footage using relevant filming equipment and editing their video clips together with sound and subtitles.
Our Level 1 learners will learn the following vital media skills: how to plan, solve problems, demonstrate self-management and produce creative content.
Business Unit:
Learners will enhance their creative and analytical skills while learning various IT packages such as Canva and PowerPoint. At the end of the unit, learners will present their ideas; helping develop their presentational and communication skills decisions when developing their own brand.

Entry requirements
Evidence of Entry 3 literacy and numeracy are required. Minimum 2 GCSE grades at 1-3 (grades D-F). Students will be expected to commit to the course and display good attendance & punctuality.

Who is the course for?

This is a one year course consisting of ten exciting units, where you then progress onto a Level 2 course (in ICT, Media or Business) once achieved.

Study methods
This course will be taught through demonstrations, whole group teaching, discussions, practical workshops and various classroom activities involving group and pair work.

The course is 100% coursework. Learners will be assessed over all units through written and practical assignments.
