Electrical Installation

This diploma covers the following:

  • Health and Safety
  • Electrical Installation Theory and Technology
  • Electrical Installation Methods
  • Procedures and Requirements
  • Electrical Installation Craft Skills
  • Electrical Science and Principles.

    Within the qualification the learner will have the opportunity to utilise the IET On-Site Guide and be introduced to how regulations (including BS 7671) affect electrical installation. The qualification covers standard circuits as described in the On-Site Guide.
  • Entry requirements

    You must be 19+ years old with 4 x GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above, preferably including both English, Maths and Science or a relevant Level 1 qualification and a minimum Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths.

  • Who is the course for?

    This course is for adults (19+) who are intending to work in the electrical contracting industry or for those working in an associated industry i.e. film, TV, lighting, maintenance etc, who require the underpinning knowledge to progress their careers.

  • Study methods

    Study methods include: lectures, practical workshops, tutorials, private study periods, projects and assignments.

  • How is the course assessed?

    The diploma will be assessed by the following methods: online multiple choice examinations, practical assignment and written paper.

    This course runs on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

    We have links with employers such as Efixx and Meggar who are guest speakers on the courses. We also have a number of site visits across the year.

    You can progress to a Level 3 Electrical Installation course or an advanced apprenticeship.
