As part of this Level 3 Diploma in Photography you will have access to a range of excellent facilities including:
- Art and photographic studios
- Digital suites with Adobe Creative Cloud
- A traditional analogue photographic darkroom.
We have a range of cameras and lens based equipment that can be hired to use for projects. And our staff have excellent professional skills particularly in the area of photography who are willing and available to share their industry knowledge and expertise.
The program includes educational visits to galleries and exhibitions, giving you the opportunity to experience the works you study in person.
Projects will highlight the importance of research and the creative development of your coursework, encouraging you to explore various influences and cultural references to cultivate a more personal response to your work.
In the second year, there will be a focus on you as an emerging artist or designer, allowing you to develop your own ideas for projects. You will also have the chance to collaborate on live projects, exhibitions and community outreach initiatives with local organisations or charities.
By the end of the course, you will have developed an exceptional portfolio which supports the majority of our students in gaining entry to some of the best universities in the country including UAL, London Met and Goldsmiths.

Entry requirements
4 x GCSEs grade 9-4 (grade A - C) including an art/design subject, or a Level 2 qualification in an art-related subject at merit/distinction grade, together with (ideally) GCSE English and Maths at grade 9-4 (grade A- C).
Your GCSE Art coursework, or work from your Level 2 course, will be looked at during the interview.
You will be required to provide a portfolio or sketchbook of practical artwork from school or independent projects/experiments, when you come for an interview. This should demonstrate your skill and interest in art and design and give an indication of the materials and processes that you currently work with. -
Who is the course for?
This Level 3 course is for students who are considering exploring a career in photography, lens based media and related analogue/digital technologies.

Study methods
Most of your lessons will be based in the art and photographic studios, the digital suites and the darkroom where you will be doing practical tasks and completing evidence of your developing skills and knowledge in your physical and online sketchbooks.
You will develop ideas for 2D, 3D and time-based live projects, learning through practical and critical activities to express yourself.

- Opportunities to explore other sources of inspiration.

How is the course assessed?
You will complete sketchbooks and final pieces for each project, writing comments about your work and a final evaluation.
At the end of each year, you will complete a Final Major Project (FMP) where you have an opportunity to work more independently, following a theme using media and techniques that best represent your skills and interests. This final unit will be assessed at Pass, Merit or Distinction grade, and provide the overall grade for each year of the course. -

Successful students can progress to a Foundation Art Diploma, or Degree course at a wide range of Colleges and Universities including Central Saint Martins, Middlesex University and University of Westminster.

The College has strong links with the University of Arts London (UAL) Insights Program which provides students with access to free spring, summer and autumn courses during your first and second year. -
