Talking about his time at Harrow College, he states that it was easy to make friends and settle in, which helped him feel comfortable and part of the Harrow College community.
A moment of pride
The support and guidance received by his lecturers and tutors was invaluable to his learning journey. He described them as friendly approachable and encouraging, often taking time to explain things clearly and support students beyond just teaching.
A moment of pride for him was completing a major IT project. This task required skills he initially lacked confidence in, such as troubleshooting, planning, and presenting solutions. Successfully finishing it helped him recognise how much he had developed academically and personally.
Overcoming challenges
It’s not always been plain sailing, one of the biggest challenges he faced was managing the increased workload and complexity of his course.
Ahmad found the combination of practical projects, tight deadlines, and technical problem-solving slightly overwhelming at first, but he gradually adapted and improved his time management and confidence.
His course has supported his growth in multiple ways, helping him develop technical IT skills as well as important soft skills like communication, teamwork, and presenting ideas confidently.
Outside the classroom, he also took part in enrichment activities and social events, which helped him build confidence, meet new people, and become more comfortable in group settings.
Overall, his experience at the college is very positive, the highlights being the welcoming environment and staff that are genuinely supportive and focused on helping students succeed.
