ESOL for adults and young students

Take an ESOL class to help you study, find work and speak more confidently. You'll learn to communicate through speaking, listening, reading and writing. By studying with Harrow College, you'll gain a recognised qualification and can move through the levels as your skills improve.

You can join an ESOL course if you're a resident or seeking asylum in the UK. We offer full-time courses, part time ESOL courses, offsite family learning courses and evening Basic Skills courses.

Courses for young people

If you're under 23 and want to study further, we can offer you additional support to improve your written and spoken English before progressing to mainstream education.

Young Foundation 16-18

These courses are for 16-18 year old students and will cover ESOL qualifications, Maths and IT and we'll develop your employability skills too.

We focus on improving your English communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. There are also assignment classes in sport, geography, arts and science and maths and IT sessions.

ESOL Vocational Courses (16-23)

These vocational courses are for 16-23 year olds and will cover ESOL, Maths and a vocational subject certificate. 

Courses for adults (19+)

ESOL Adult part-time 

The ESOL adult porgrammes of study consist of three qualifications to include ESOL, English Award and Maths Award. These daytime courses range from Pre-entry level to Level 1. Access to Higher Education Course Promo 3

Do you wish to go to university but lack the formal qualifications needed for entry? The successful completion of an Access course can help you follow your dream.

Harrow College's Access courses offer localised learning in an affordable and supportive environment to progress your learning to the next stage. The college has excellent links with universities and will work to actively progress your education.

The Access course involves approximately 15 hours of tuition per week, supplemented with home based study. You will receive tuition in English, Maths, IT and Study Skills in addition to your specialist subject. Your personal tutor and the Careers team will offer you support and advice throughout your course.

Some students may be eligible to apply for the Discretionary Learner Support Fund; financial support may be available towards childcare.

I Will Be Studying - Childcare

Caring and teaching young children can be a very rewarding profession.

The Childcare sectors have always been popular with those who want to be involved in the development of children in their early years as well as those who aspire to work within the changing environment of today’s schools. Courses for those interested in working with children and young people equip students with the skills and abilities to deliver a first-class service as well as enable them to progress onto supervisory and management levels.

Careers from this subject areas include Childcare Practitioner in a crèche or nursery, Nanny or Childminder, Nursery Supervisor, Nursery Manager, Teaching Assistant and Youth Worker.

Level 2 and 3 courses also include work experience with our employers over the course of your studies to put your theoretical skills into practice and enhance your professional development of working in this sector.

I Will Be Studying - GCSEs

GCSEs are the main qualification taken by 14 to 16-year-olds, but are available to anyone of any age. GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education. They are highly valued by schools, colleges and employers.

The qualification mainly involves studying the theory of a subject, together with some investigative work, while some subjects also involve practical work.

A GCSE grade C / grade 4 in maths and English will open the door to a number of progression options including further study as well as apprenticeship and employment career paths.

If you study on one of our GCSE packages and you don’t already have English and maths GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, you will also need to study those GCSEs alongside your package.
