How do you enrol for a course?
We will need to meet you so come to see us (dates below). All our ESOL and English courses are subject to an interview and assessment to determine your level (details below). Fees are full cost to those who are not on means tested benefits. Please note, we do not have childcare facilities so please do not bring your child to enrolment. Enrolment can take up to one and a half hours.
Before you enrol, you will have an interview and a test with one of our tutors to help us decide what level is right for you. This is nothing to worry about, we just need to make sure you are enrolling on the correct course. You will need to bring to the interview your previous certificates and details of any courses you have completed so far.
Items to bring when you interview and enrol:
- Evidence of your status in the UK – e.g. passport or Home Office letter.
- Evidence of your previous qualifications (exam certificates / results)
- Any proof of benefits (6 months in date, and with your name on it)
- Exam certificates / results
We are a strong team of 20 ESOL teachers with over 200 years of teaching experience who understand and care about ESOL students and their needs. We know how to make you learn as much English as possible while also developing your mathematical skills, so we use a wide variety of teaching techniques to make learning fun.
How is the course assessed?
You will be regularly assessed during your course and receive feedback to help you develop the skills required for the final assessment. At Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3 you will take exams. For the Pre-Entry course, you will have continuous assessment and a record of achievement at the end of the course.
Further study opportunities:
The majority of our students continue studying at Harrow College. We have a wide range of courses to choose from. A successful outcome will enable you to progress to the next level up and other further study such as Functional Skills English and/or Maths, ESOL, vocational courses etc.
Future job opportuntities:
Gaining English, maths and ICT qualifications will enable you to take a more active part in the community, find a new job, take your first step into employment, work as a volunteer or be able to help and support your children throughout their education.
