Who is the course for
This course option is for students with proven playing ability selected by trial who seek a first class education and have predicted grades C to D at GCSE level and want to work in the sports industry.
The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Sports Studies is a vocational qualification that will support your progression to a Technical Level qualification in sport, active health and fitness. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and provides the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue a career in sport and related disciplines. Whilst there are no prerequisites to undertake this qualification, you are expected to have a keen interest and desire to pursue a career in sport, active health or fitness.
This qualification covers the core topic areas of sport including: anatomy and physiology, performance psychology, planning and leading activities and business skills.
The course is mapped out over 5 days, with two days of Football training for those on the academy plus a Match day on a Wednesday.
How is the course assessed
Through a combination of written assignments, presentations and practical assessments.
Where next - Further Studies
Entry to the BTEC level 3 in sports performance, paid or unpaid work in the community.
For this course you will need the course textbook (approximately £20), USB memory stick, plastic wallets, files, appropriate football boots, pen and paper. Day trips to appropriate sites may also be necessary.
