Who is the course for
For those who are new to computing who want to learn the basics of Word and Excel applications, how to surf the web and use email. This course also offers the complete beginner a chance to get to know and feel confident using a computer.
The basic functions and features of Office 2010 and Windows including: Switching on, keyboard layout, using the mouse/mouse control, Word package: loading, entering text, editing and formatting text, saving and printing, moving text, spreadsheet package: entering data, cells, columns and rows, editing and formatting text, saving, printing, moving text, email and internet: accessing the internet, search engines, receiving and sending emails, open and sending attachments, saving images and photos, using an USB, on-line shopping. As part of your course and where the opportunity occurs literacy/numeracy together with speaking and listening skills will be developed.

Notebook, pen and USB. Students are able to save their work on the college student drive but anyone wishing to take their work away to practice etc should consider purchasing a USB memory stick.
