Who is the course for
This course is for students wishing to increase their understanding of computers, develop skills, prepare for jobs involving computer technology or move on to further courses and then to Higher Education.
How is the course assessed
Students who achieve the required passes will receive a certificate awarded by the OCR examining board.
Each student will need to complete all assignments set per unit.
All units are internally assessed through assignments marked by your subject teachers.
Some work may be assessed by oral presentations in class.
This course is 100% coursework.
There are no external examinations, but the exam board OCR will require marked work for external verification.
For each unit you will demonstrate that you have met all grading criteria for PASS, MERIT and DISTINCTION.
Your completed evidence will vary for each unit including written course-work assignments, some oral presentations in class, observations with witness statements, video, developing websites and any other suitable method.
- You will need to complete all your units and achieve a Merit or above grade to move to the next level.
Where next - Further Studies
OCR Level 3 Certificate, Subsidiary or Extended Diploma in IT
Additional Subjects: If you achieved an E or below in English and or Mathematics you will study a Functional Skills programme in that subject. If you have achieved a grade D, you will take GCSE English or GCSE Maths as additional subjects.
