4 x GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above preferably including both English & maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification.

Who is the course for

The Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in IT course is industry-relevant and geared to key sector requirements. It gives students a more in-depth understanding of ICT in the modern workplace, giving insights into ICT’s role in specialist careers. You will learn how to get jobs in the IT industry and learn computer skills that will help you in any future employment. It is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade A* - C.

Course Content

Students will have the opportunity to learn about computer systems, installing hardware, graphic, animation, databases, spreadsheets and websites. All students will be required to develop their English and Maths through courses such as Functional skills and GCSE.

Study Methods

This course will be taught through demonstrations, whole group teaching, discussions, practical workshops and various classroom activities involving group and pair work

How is the course assessed

Through written coursework assignments, practical activities in the computer lab, tests and oral presentations in class. Successful completion of the course will lead to a qualification awarded by OCR

A Pass at the Level 2 Diploma and E3 Functional Skills English and Maths can lead to the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in IT. A Merit at the Level 2 Diploma and L1 Functional Skills English and Maths can lead to the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma. A Merit at the Level 2 Diploma and L2 English and Maths can lead to the BTEC Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in IT.

You should expect to provide yourself with all standard stationery and writing materials and folders for submission of coursework (details will be provided at the start of the course), plus memory stick Approximately £20.00 for text books Pen, lined paper - be prepared to write. You must also bring with you your ID card, learning agreement and timetable
