Evidence of Entry Level 3 in numeracy and literacy, which will be assessed at the interview.
Who is the course for
This course is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on learners demonstrating what they can do rather than what they know in theory. The qualification gives learners the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills in order to complete tasks and demonstrate a level of achievement that enables them to progress to further learning.
Course Content
This one year course offers a broad introduction to the skills and knowledge within the IT sector, allowing the delivery to be practical and active in order to engage the learners. The units cover activities such as creating a Website, a Digital Poster, Programming, Spreadsheets and Video & Audio clips. You will, in addition, improve your Maths and English.

Through classroom teaching, computer work, practical activities and group work.
How is the course assessed
Through classroom teaching, practical activities, group work, research and educational visits. Much of what you do will be hands on computer work. This is a 100% coursework based course, comprising of various units. Each unit is assessed by assignments.
Where next - Further Studies
These qualifications prepare learners for further learning at a higher level in IT. The development of transferable skills means that learners can also choose a study programme from alternative sectors. For example, this qualification in IT could lead to Pearson BTEC Level 2 IT qualification, or to the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Apprenticeship in IT Users Skills.
