A relevant Level 2 qualification and a preference of GCSE 9-4 (grade A*- C) in English and maths (otherwise you will be required to sit a test in those subjects). Students without English & maths GCSEs will also study one GCSE alongside this course.
Who is the course for
The course is designed for students returning to study who wish to gain an Access qualification in one academic year to enable them to go on to a university course.
You will study the following subjects: Psychology, Sociology and History plus study skills. You will be assigned a personal tutor who will support you with progression as well as pastoral care. You will have access to our Careers Service and Student Services.
A variety of methods are used including lecture, group work, presentations and discussion.
How is the course assessed
Coursework, essays, exams and presentations. A portfolio of completed work is submitted to the awarding body at the end of the course. Successful students receive a nationally validated Access Diploma from the Open College Network London Region.
Where next - Further Studies
A degree level course in a humanities subject area.
Students need to bring their own writing materials, A4 folders and USB memory stick. Occasional trips may be organised. You may be advised to buy a text book for some subjects. Costs kept to a minimum.
