Inspiring Enterprise Challenge

Harrow College students win the enterprise event organised in partnership with Stanmore College and the College of North West London.

The event saw 15 student teams from all three colleges come up with interesting enterprise ideas on Friday, 28th April 2010 at the Sattavis Patidar Centre in Wembley.

The teams from three colleges competed in a series of enterprise challenges which were aimed at creating and promoting social enterprise.

Harrow College students Katy McCauley, Paul Hillman, Danielle Evans, Ankita Sachdev and Valadimira Labska won the final of the Inspiring Enterprise Challenge and were awarded £250 to donate to their social enterprise charity.

The team came up with the idea of a series of fundraising activities to support young people with ME (Myalgic Encephalopathy) to be able to continue their education and feel more socially included. The charity aims to provide laptops to those in hospital so that they can continue their education and to encourage people to send messages of support to those young people with ME so that they do not feel isolated.

The competition judges all commented on the high standard of student pitches and the creativity of the social enterprise ideas submitted. The event was so successful that Harrow College has been asked to organise a London wide version of the event for next year by the Enterprise Network.
