Art students taste fame at Ident

Harrow College students had the time of their lives when they participated at Ident – a collaboration between Tate Britain and University of the Arts London in February.

Passionate young design students from 13 schools and colleges across London took part in a 14 week long project, to design using recycled materials from ethical sources. Among the 55 chosen aspiring designers, 7 Harrow College students had the opportunity to share, learn and present their talents to the public.

The 14 week long project culminated in a 25 minute finale’ stage show and a fashion show at Tate Britain where the students’ hard work were showcased by models in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

The students’ creative designs were based on Chris Ofili and Tate Britain’s Collection displays.

One of the seven Harrow College students to share this exciting experience was Hana Islam. She thanks the Art department which led to her participation in the project, ‘The actual event was amazing! There were two shows, one started at 5.30 pm and the other at 8.00 pm. The first show was quite emotional as it was the one where my family, friends and teachers came. That was the first time I saw what I had done on stage.

‘The second show actually made me cry as many people came to view our work and walking down the runway after the models, made me feel so proud like I had really accomplished something huge!’
