Harrow College and Work Directions join forces to find work for Harrow’s long term unemployed

The Government is sponsoring a new initiative to get long term unemployed people in West London back into the job market. Harrow College will be taking a leading role in West London to train unemployed workers in Employability Skills, Health and Safety, Job and IT skills.

The initiative is designed specifically to help unemployed people who have been receiving Jobseekers allowance for 6 months, lone parents on Income Support, claimants in receipt of Incapacity Benefit/Employment or Support Allowance and some disadvantaged groups.

Harrow College will provide training in its Learn Direct Centre and Work Directions will find applicants a job within 6 weeks of starting the programme.

Reg Clarke the Manager of Harrow College Learn Direct Centre said, "this is an exciting opportunity for long term unemployed workers to learn the skills that will get them back into the job market".

Initially, applicants should apply to their local Job Centre Plus who will then refer them to Harrow College.
