Harrow College new teacher training students to receive funding
Harrow College has been successful in its application for funding from the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Fee Awards scheme for two of its teacher training courses.
The PGCE, and the Diploma in English (Literacy & ESOL). The ITT scheme is being run by LSIS on behalf of the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) in a bid to encourage those with a talent for teaching to join the FE sector.
Rob Wye, Chief Executive of LSIS said, "Skilled and qualified teachers are the lifeblood of the FE sector. The ITT Fee Awards are one way of ensuring that professionals with the right skills and expertise are able to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the further education and skills sector"
The funding is available for all new Harrow College students embarking on the PGCE, the Certificate in Education and the Diploma in English (Literacy & ESOL) from this September (except those who received the IfL Award in year 1 of their study). To be eligible for the award all you need to do is be apply and be accepted onto the eligible teacher training programme at Harrow College. The awards can be as much at £1500 towards the cost of your fees and this money does not need to be paid back.
Successful teacher training at Harrow College
Harrow College is part of the West London Partnership, which under the leadership of University of Westminster is a Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training.
Earlier this year the College announced that all students on the Certificate in Education and PGCE successfully passed their courses which are accredited by the University of Westminster. All of the 20 students are currently employed either at Harrow College, with our partner agency Protocol National or with other education organisations.
