BTEC National Certificate in Fashion and Textiles

If you want to study fashion design, textiles, knitwear design and accessory design then this course is for you. You will be working in the fashion and textile studio at Harrow Weald campus. You will be doing drawing and looking at other fashion designers work.

This is an excellent progression route to an art foundation course and to degree courses in fashion design in womenswear or menswear, fashion accessory design, textile design, footwear design, millinery, costume design, fashion promotion and management.

BTEC National Diploma in Business

If you are interested in the world of Business and want to focus particularly on marketing then this course is for you. It can lead on to higher education business related courses at a variety of universities or employment in the Business sector. In the first year you will cover an introduction to marketing and you will explore the concept of branding and product promotion. In the second year you will study Human Resource Management and Internet Marketing.

BTEC First Diploma in Business and Employability

This course gives you a great chance to enhance your employability skills which more and more companies are now looking for in graduates. It is a one-year course to give you a taste of the business world. There are six business units, and five employability units in a range of areas, such as Developing Customer Relations, Investigating Financial Control, Business Communication and Exploring Business Purposes. It can lead on to further study at the next level, such as the BTEC National Certificate in Business or employment.

Pre Apprenticeship in Childcare

The level 1 Award has four compulsory units: Understanding Growth, Social and Emotional Development of Children; Personal Career Preparation; Healthy Lifestyles and Understanding Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeships. The level 1 Certificate has seven possible units: Understanding the Importance of Play; Introduction to Food and Nutrition for Children and Young People; Introduction to General Health and Hygiene Skills; Developing own Interpersonal Skills; Building a Personal Career Portfolio; Demonstrating Speaking and Listening Skills; Developing Personal Development Skills

Can lead to: Level 2 programmes, for instance BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care, Diploma for Progression in Health Care and Early Years, NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care Learning and Development, Apprenticeship in Childcare level 2

Diploma in Systems Support and Software Development

If you want an in depth understanding of the practical side of computers and how software is developed then this course is for you. There are 6 units which will develop both your hardware and software skills: Customer Support, ICT System Monitoring and Operation, ICT Centre Repair Procedures, Install, Configure and Test ICT Networks, Create Designs and Test Software Components, Create Software Components Using Java. The course can lead on to a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma.

BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners

If you like working with computers, enjoy solving problems using logical, analytical thinking and enjoy hands on practical work then this course is for you. You will learn how to create websites, animations, games, spreadsheets and databases.

BTEC National Certificate in Applied Science (Laboratory and Industrial Science)

This course is designed to give you a broad knowledge and understanding of Science and to allow you to study selected areas in more depth. You'll have the opportunity to apply your scientific knowledge in a practical and realistic way, undertaking assignments that are relevant to scientific careers. This course supports university applications in the field of Science. Previous students have gained degree course places for biomedical science, forensic science and engineering.

BTEC National Certificate in Applied Science (Medical Science)

This is a full-time programme for students aged 16 and over who want to study applied science with an emphasis on medical science.

Performing Engineering Operations (Plumbing)

You will study the following modules on this course: Safety in plumbing activities, key plumbing principals, common plumbing principals, common plumbing processes, hot and cold water systems, central heating systems(pipe work only),electrical supply, sanitation systems, sheet lead weathering, environmental awareness, working with others. This qualification can lead to employment or n Apprenticeship in the plumbing industry and/or progress to a level 2 qualification.

Entry Level – Your Choice

This course is aimed at learners who are unemployed or unsure about their future career choice. All learners have a personalised learning plan and personal tutor who will provide support and advice throughout the course. Achievement of the full NOCN award (and a good reference from your personal tutor) will ensure you can progress on to an appropriate course at College, or possibly an Apprenticeship or employment.
