We provide Higher Education courses in:
Access CoursesAccess courses last one year, and are designed for people who would like to go to university but lack the formal qualifications needed for entry. Ideally applicants will have some work experience.
We offer Access courses in
- Nursing
- Education Studies
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Social work
- Computing
As well as learning your specialist subjects, you’ll also receive tuition in English, Maths, IT and Study Skills.
What to expect
You’ll attend approximately 15 hours of classes a week at the college, but you’ll also need to study at home in your own time. Most timetables are ‘parent friendly’ and pre-school facilities are available.
You’ll also receive lots of support. You’ll be assigned a personal tutor who will be on hand to provide advice and guidance, and who can help you complete university application forms when the time comes. Our careers advisors are also available to give direction and extra support is provided in core subjects.
You’ll also be able to access College computers in the evenings and on Saturdays.

Foundation Degree in Counselling
We offer Certificate in Counselling Concepts and Foundation Degree in Counselling at Harrow College.
The Certificate in Counselling covers:
Effective listening
Attending skills
Effective responding skills
Giving and receiving feedback
Respecting difference and cultural diversity
This course is a requirement to go on to Foundation Degree in Counselling that is run in association with Middlesex University. The Foundation Degree offers academic teaching with practical experience, at the end of which you can expect to qualify as a Counsellor.
The course will cover areas that will allow you to develop clinical and experiential understanding of the person-centred approach to counselling, within a humanistic perspective of the therapeutic relationship and process.

HND in Business
This new 2 year programme offers you a practical grounding in a range of business disciplines such as business strategy, human resource management and marketing planning.
- The course attendance has been designed with working people in mind – you would attend one day per week, plus one evening and Saturday morning
- It’s a low cost option to obtain a Higher Education qualification
- If you are successful you can progress to university to take a final year and convert it to a degree.

Teacher EducationWe are proud to be members of the Westminster Centre of Excellence in Teacher Training (CETT). We have an excellent Teacher Education department where students receive specialised training from industry professionals. This focused environment prepares students for possible work in education, training, industry and public services.
We offer a range of teacher training courses including the Certificate in Education/ PGCE/Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. This is accredited by the University of Westminster. It is a part-time in –service course 1 day a week for 2 years.
