Achievement, Progression to University and Alumni

We take pride in our record of helping students achieve to their highest potential. Around 500 students progress on to top universities every year including UCL, Westminster, Goldsmiths College, Queen Mary and Brunel University, or into employment.

International students are awarded for their achievements along with other college students at the prestigious annual Student Awards Ceremony which is attended by The Mayor and Mayoress of Harrow each year and is celebrated by staff, students and parents.

2010 Progression Facts

  • In 2010, 39 Harrow College business students progressed to some of Britain’s most renowned universities to study accounting and finance degrees
  • Harrow College taught more than 29 computer science students who secured their place at universities in 2010
  • 18 law students from Harrow College were accepted for their chosen course at universities around the country
  • Studying biology at Harrow College could lead to university courses like biomedical sciences and biochemistry
  • In 2010 more than 20 students progressed from art and design programmes to art related courses at university
  • Harrow College saw five of its students taking aerospace and aeronautical engineering at university in 2010

Gilbert S Musanhu (right) is aiming to be a successful corporate lawyer thanks to his excellent A level results in Business Studies A, Law A and Economics B.

‘I am very happy with my results and this clearly shows that hard work pays off. The standard of teaching was exceptional! I mean teachers went out of their way to provide us with the best resources.’

‘Harrow College has prepared me for the future with great careers advice. I am taking a gap year to work in a bank to improve my employment experience and I will be working towards being a corporate lawyer.’

Abdul Hakimi is all set to spend his time at City University studying Law. Having achieved A* in Government & Politics, B in Law and C in Economics, he is hoping to be a successful lawyer and move into politics in future.

‘The teaching (at Harrow College) was brilliant and I am grateful to the College for many skills that I gained here. Harrow College has a friendly atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it to others.’

Erin Pun, who did her A level Maths at the College is now at Surrey University studying Civil Engineering.

‘We had teachers who really dedicated their time and effort to help us achieve good grades. I think they deserve to be recognised as they worked really hard for us.'

‘The Careers Service was very helpful as it had a lot of information on universities and it was my usual pit-stop while I was there. I was really confused and didn’t know what I wanted to do at university. The career advisors were really friendly!’

After passing with flying colours in his A level exams, Angshumonik Angbohang (right) progressed to Imperial College London to study Biochemistry.

He hopes to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience after completing his degree. He cites Harrow College as being important for his success; ‘to be honest, if it weren’t for my teachers, I personally do not think I would have been able to get where I am; at one of the most prestigious universities in the country, studying something I love.’
