Access to Higher Education
Access courses last one year, and are designed for people who would like to go to university but lack the formal qualifications needed for entry. Ideally applicants will have some work experience.
We offer Access courses in
- Nursing
- Education Studies
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Social work
- Computing
As well as learning your specialist subjects, you’ll also receive tuition in English, Maths, IT and Study Skills.
What to expect
You’ll attend approximately 15 hours of classes a week at the college, but you’ll also need to study at home in your own time. Most timetables are ‘parent friendly’ and pre-school facilities are available.
You’ll also receive lots of support. You’ll be assigned a personal tutor who will be on hand to provide advice and guidance, and who can help you complete university application forms when the time comes. Our careers advisors are also available to give direction and extra support is provided in core subjects.
You’ll also be able to access College computers in the evenings and on Saturdays.
