Foundation Learning and Skills/ Skills for Life

A foundation course will improve your literacy, numeracy and independence if you haven't got the grades to progress to a Level 2 course.

You can explore different subjects from construction to electrical installation with the expert knowledge of our qualified tutors. You'll also learn in our top notch facilities at either Whitefriars Training Centre or Harrow Skills Centre.

We also have ESOL Foundation Learning courses if English isn't your first language and you'd like to move onto further education or employment.

Your Choice

Your Choice is a 17 week programme for young people over 16 who are not in employment, education or training who would like a fresh start and the chance to attend college. You get the opportunity to contribute to the design of your own programme and explore a range of different subject areas, including:

• Childcare
• Retail
• Business Administration
• Information Technology
• Sport & Leisure

This way it's 'Your Choice'.

The programme enables you to make an informed choice and to develop your learning and employability skills, whilst preparing you for further study or employment.

Your programme will include a placement to help you develop your potential for employment.

You will need

GCSE grades D-F including English and Maths. An interview. An initial assessment.

This qualification will provide the skills and knowledge to enable learners to progress to a range of vocational courses. Learners who achieve FS English & Maths at E3 can progress to a Level 2 vocational qualification and learners who achieve FS English & Maths at E2, can progress to a Level 1 vocational qualification.

I like the teachers at Harrow College I get to go on trips out. I enjoy studying ICT as part of my course. The standard of teaching is very good. I would recommend the courses and the College because the students and staff are very nice and we study lots of things. In the future I’m planning to study ICT.
