What is the course about?

Learners who wish to improve their written and spoken English, Maths and IT skills and want to go on to further studies or employment. Students should have an interest in IT.

Progression Opportunities - what's in it for me?

Progression will be to mainstream courses such as BTEC Introductory Diploma in ITQ.

What are the Entry Requirements?

No formal qualifications are needed but students' level of English should be appropriate. Students' level of English and IT will be assessed by a written test and an interview at enrolment. Students will also take an aptitude test to determine their interest and suitability for the programme.

What will I study?

You will study a certificate in ITQ and Functional Skills in English, Maths and IT, as well as an Exploring Employability Skills Award.

How will I study?

A variety of teaching methods including classroom and IT suite teaching.

How will I be assessed?

Exam and portfolio based assessments will be required.

What equipment or materials will I need?

Students will be expected to have A4 lined paper, pens and pencils, a ring binder as well as a dictionary and USB memory stick.

What should I bring to the first class?

Students will be expected to have A4 lined paper and pens.

Are there any additional costs that I need to be aware of?

Students may be asked to buy a course book as well as writing material.

Course Offer Conditions

Harrow College normally runs courses that are offered. However, courses that do not recruit to a satisfactory level may be withdrawn or closed. Please note 80 percent attendance or better is required to secure a college attendance certificate where offered at the Harrow on the Hill or Harrow Weald Campus at times stated in the Adult Learners Prospectus or website.

Fees and Refunds Policy

Fees payable are shown above or in the Prospectus for Adult Learners. Details of the concessions available and who may qualify are shown on the fees page on the web site and in the Prospectus for Adult Learners. If the College cancels a course before it starts you will be given a full refund. If a course closes for any reason the fees for the remaining part of the course will be refunded. If the college receives a written notice of withdrawal from you at least three working days before a course starts you will receive a refund of the tuition fees. (If you enrol within the three days prior to the start of the course you will not be entitled to a refund). All registration and examination fees are non-refundable. Residential and materials fees will only be refunded in exceptional circumstances.
