Steven Hardiman
An established Research Scientist at Met Office gives all the credit to his teachers at Harrow College

Steven Hardiman works at Met Office, one of the world's leading providers of environmental and weather-related services. Now based in Exeter, Steven started his campus life at Weald College (before the merger) and studied A- Levels maths, further maths, physics and computing in 1997 until 1999.

After successfully completing his A-Levels at the College, Steven went to Cambridge University for his Mathematics degree and continued there with a PhD in geophysical fluid.

He recalls the time at Harrow College fondly, ‘Since there were only six of us doing further maths we spent a fair bit of time together (outside the classroom as well as inside), learnt a lot from each other, and had a good time.’

At the Met Office, his responsibilities in Climate Research include: running and developing the climate model, interpreting the model results and communicating the results to others in a clear way.

Steven thanks Harrow College for the quality of service it provided, ‘the maths department was excellent. It stood me in good stead to get good A level grades, pass the Cambridge step papers, and thus get a place at Cambridge.’

When asked who made the best impact during his time at the College, he answered, ‘The teachers (Helen, Carole and John) and friends.’
