Harrow College Student Success

Soha Joshi

Soha Joshi came from India and studied at Harrow College from 2004 until 2007. She started off with ESOL Entry Level 3 (IT Bridging Course) and then went on to do A-Levels in Business Studies, Mathematics and Information Communication and Technology. Now, she is at Brunel University studying BSc Business and Management (Accounting).

Her experience at Harrow College:

‘Harrow College was where I had the first opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds. When I was in India, I had never met people from any country except India. The College helped me make friends from different backgrounds and cultures. Teachers were very helpful and Helena Mills, in particular, made me feel at ease and helped me settle down easily.

‘Along with my degree, I am also currently working as the Brunel Widening Participation Student Ambassador. My main duties are to show the College students and visitors, the campus and its facilities. If it hadn’t been for Harrow College, I wouldn’t have known that I would be able to do what I am doing right now, with such ease.

‘I chose Harrow College as it is centrally located and I didn’t have to travel much to get here. As a new student, it made me nervous to travel long distance on my own.

‘My future plan is to do the ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification and get a better job as an accountant or something similar.’
