Harrow College Alumni

Elena Walton
‘The teachers at Harrow College are extremely helpful and it’s something you don’t realise or appreciate until you are at university and you are completely on your own,’ Elena Walton says.

With her A levels in Media Studies, Graphic Design and Photography at Harrow College, Elena Walton has recently moved on to Goldsmiths, University of London to study Anthropology and Media Studies.

‘I really enjoyed my second year as I felt a lot of my work had improved by then and I was a lot more creative with my photography,’ says Elena. Elena has already had experience working for media companies like Working Title, the UK’s most successful and long-lived feature film production company. She is always looking out for opportunities to develop her skills; ‘whenever I can I try to gain work experience with media companies as I hope to work in the media industry after my degree. At the start of the year, I worked on the live TV set of Big Questions with the BBC, which was a great opportunity to learn about live television shows hands on.’

She says this would not have been possible without the support she received from College staff; ‘my teachers, particularly Ray Poole, really pushed me to do my best, which was annoying at the time but now I am very grateful for it!'

‘I will never forget my time at Harrow College, it was a lot of fun and I made a lot of friends. It really helped to give me insight into the university style of life and working in the media and I received a lot of support throughout my time there.’

Elena is aiming to work for a film company and get into directing after she graduates. We wish her the best of luck.
