Harrow College Student Success

Ben Lampert
Harrow College’s former deaf student is now a budding footballer

Ben Lampert is playing in the British football team as a midfielder at the 21st Summer Deaflympic Games in Taipei. After winning a gold medal four years ago in Australia, he hopes that British team will do the same this year.

Ben considers going to Australia and winning that gold medal for Britain as his best achievement, ‘it was the best experience. It was just wonderful to be with deaf people from all over the world. I still keep in touch with the people I met there.

‘The College was very supportive towards my course, my life, everything,’ says Ben, ‘I studied at Harrow Weald campus. It helped to develop my independence. I studied Sports and all the teachers were helpful and I was fully supported by the Communication Support Unit at the College.

His advice to other students: ‘Try your best to build your own character. However many steps you need to take, take them. Get all that knowledge and experience that you require to achieve the best.’ His future goal is to finish his degree and concentrate on coaching Deaf and the Hearing Impaired students. We wish him best of luck!
